Let’s take a break and listen to a bedtime story

Listening, discovering and savouring could be the payoff of the exhibition “Favole al telefono”, installed by Ghigos at their venue in Bovisa.

We left Ghigos, last Fuorisalone, with a courageous project, A letto con il Design – Design Hostel, a perfectly functional hostel installed in their headquarters Ideas Bit Factory in Bovisa. We find them again, this year, bolstered also by their collaboration with POLI.design, with the School of Design and Department of Design at the Milan Polytechnic, with a vaster project that, in addition to including temporary accommodations, unfolds with an exhibition among and in the hostel rooms and even some locations across the city.

The inspiration starts from the book Telephone Tales by Gianni Rodari, illustrated by Bruno Munari for Einaudi, from which it gets its name. Ghigos’s imagination does the rest: the story of Italian Culinary Arts through some famous brands like the Pastiglie Leone and Rossana candy or Senape Orco mustard, or even Acquerello rice, just to name a few. The exhibit, just like the book, takes its cue from an old SIP telephone receiver, and by lifting it and dealing a number visitors can listen to the story of one of the brands while watching the relating video. The next step is discovering, among the rooms of the Design Hostel, the “suites” dedicated to these products, installed with photographs and objects that describe the history of each company.
Visitors will find themselves browsing about the room of a temporary resident who is accommodated in this installation.
For anyone who wishes to taste the products on display, all you have to do is go to certain locations in the city, like the Wooding Bar, Lo Spirit de Milan, Mare Culturale Urbano, Raw Milano and Ov Milano.
