Mimosa Architekti designed a 171 sqm family house located within a neighbourhood of weekend cottages and small sized quaint houses, each of them representing the very individual taste of each owner: most of them represent the individual owner’s capriciousness and improvisation.

The house by Mimosa in a way follows the same approach. Its forms were motivated by the wish the owners to have an unusual, non-geometrical, environmentally soft house, built using natural materials. The house is located in the northern part of the plot, keeping the southern one as a garden. The house dimensions are subject to local regulations, while the layout depends on the plot orientation, with the living areas facing the garden, while service rooms are located in the northern side. The ground floor is designed to emphasizing the easy access to the garden.
The building has a wooden structure made of massive wooden slabs provided with wood fibre insulation, while the surfaces are covered with larch shakes. The facade is made of split shakes that give a tinier scale to the house as well as a feeling of solidarity with the forest behind its back. The interiors feature both the wooden elements and clay plaster. The floors of the entire house are made of rubber. The building is heated using an air/water heat pump and its passive standard is achieved with a heat recovery system.
