Foster and Partners have revealed their outline plans for the Imperial College in London, a 25 million pound project for the Tanaka Business School. The six storey building will be in Exhibition Road, on the South Kensington campus and carries forward the ideas developed in the masterplan produced by Foster in the nineties. A new building will house the entrance to the college, exhibition spaces and gallery; consisting of a steel cylinder the same height as the building will house seven reading rooms, whilst on the south side a courtyard is planned with gardens protected by a “sail”. Work will start next April and should finish by January 2004.
