In its third attendance at the Fuorisalone, this joint project coordinated by Giulio Iacchetti keeps a firm and consistent hold on the initial spirit – to create fair, equitable and sustainable products with a core focus on what is local and craft skills, along the lines of the Slow Food philosophy.
This year, they show that there are many diverse ways of addressing sustainability, such as incorporating into contemporary life objects and projects that cost ingenuity and hard work in the past but were prematurely abandoned. This applies to the re-edition of an iconic 1990s’ design, Stefano Giovannoni’s TV stand (discontinued years ago), the form and size of which is suited to present demands.
The same theme but with different results was adopted by Venetian designer Massimo Barbierato who revisits the water pitcher and tumblers in blown glass with a design that seems to have been rounded and softened by the movement of the sea.
Giulio Iacchetti adds to the catalogue with a tall solid-wood stool that only employs wood-turning techniques. A single piece forms the based while the seat is a combination of three round discs.
