This year, again, Fabio Novembre has opted for jumbo sizes for his 36h and 56h chairs, featuring plastic woven onto an aluminium structure by Southeast Asian craftspeople in a process that takes 36 and 56 hours respectively.
The name chosen stresses just how much work goes into the making of a quality piece and, although aesthetics play their part by adding interest to the two chairs, the size actually reflects the fact that people are getting bigger.
These two rocking-chair thrones with fan backs are also a nod to the oneiric vein of the designer, who drew on some childhood memories, as indeed he did with the lamp above the two chairs, a lighting revamp of the "cage for fireflies", the ones that Fabio used to try and catch in a glass jar on summer evenings.
