Dji, the Chinese manufacturer known for its drones and video solutions, is expanding into electric mobility. At the Eurobike 2024 conference in Frankfurt, the company announced the Amflow PL electric mountain bike, the first e-bike to feature Dji's new Avinox Drive System. The two-wheeler sports impressive specs, including a powerful motor with 120Nm of max torque and a 1000W on-demand boost for tackling steep terrain. The motor's standard output is 250W nominal, with an 850W peak. The bike's 800Wh removable battery can rapidly charge from empty to 75% in just 1.5 hours using Amflow's special GaN charger. Despite its high-performance features, the Amflow PL maintains a relatively light weight of 19.2kg (42 pounds), with the carbon fiber frame and the drive system contributing only 2.27 kg and 2.52 kg, respectively. 
"Our expertise in battery and motor technology accumulated in drones and camera stabilization systems, have led us to the creation of Avinox," said Christina Zhang, DJI's senior director of Corporate Strategy, explaining the reason behind the company's push into a completely new product category. 
"It is a natural move for DJI to expand into this field as we have been mastering the technologies essential to an electric bike system in terms of reliable motor development, battery management, mechanical design, and engineering." The Amflow PL mounts a 2-inch color OLED touchscreen display integrated into the frame, providing riders with essential information at a glance and through the Avinox companion app. The bike also sports an alarm and localization system, a Fox suspension system, and a USB charging port. Mountain bikers can install both 27.5 and 29" rear wheels to customize the setup based on personal preferences or trail conditions. With the new Amflow brand DJI is taking on more established competitors in the e-bike market, such as Bosch and Specialized. The Amflow PL will be available through specialized dealers in Q4 2024 in Germany, the UK, Australia, and other locations. Pricing is yet to be announced, but the bike is expected to cost between €7.000 and €12.000.
