The global architecture firm Gensler has designed in collaboration with design agency Studio Dror a residential complex in Ontario by integrating several towers dedicated to parking for electric vehicles from the concept stage into the master plan. Located on the outskirts of Toronto, EVE (Electric Vehicle Enclave) Park aims, according to the designers, to integrate green technologies into a community-focused residential development.

The project drawings show four circular buildings with stepped roofs occupied by photovoltaic panel installations, while dedicated parking modules mark the highest point of each architecture. The garages will then be an integrated part of the building body to reduce land occupation by vehicles — including driveways and individual garages — while providing more green space for apartment occupants.
“The EVE Park houses are designed within circular clusters with stepped rooflines that create dynamic spatial experiences between buildings and allow roof-mounted solar panels to optimally harness energy,” said Oliver Schaper, director of Gensler.
The four buildings will house a total of 84 families. The interiors will feature double-height living spaces with multiple windows and large fireplaces. Other design strategies, such as energy-efficient appliances and energy recovery ventilators (ERVs) for air filtration, will also help the complex achieve positive net energy consumption.
