American company Juiced Bikes introduced a new updated version of its Scorpion X bike with a larger battery and a powerful Retroblade 750W motor. The brand calls it a moped-style bike, but the top speed of 45 km/h suggests it’s actually more of a bike-style moped, at least according to EU laws.
The Scorpion X has a throttle-only mode, but for the most part the driver is supposed to add some actual pedaling, at least to reach top speed. To help in that, Juiced Bikes implemented a new 8-speed Shimano transmission with a 56T-11T rear cassette.
Like its predecessor and the pumped-up version HyperScorpio, the Scorpio X carries a strong design resemblance with the Ciao, a very popular gas powered 50cc Italian moped sold by Piaggio from 1967 to 2006.
Orders for the Scorpion X begins on April 20, with a $1999 price-tag. Deliveries are expected from late April.
Scorpion X is an electric bicycle that looks like a moped
Juiced Bikes launched a new version of its popular moped-style bike. It has a larger battery, a more powerful motor and still looks very much like the famous Italian moped Ciao, by Piaggio.
