Camp Design Gallery in Milan has always been conceived as a platform for meeting and promoting independent design, and now is experimenting with something new to adapt to the needs of today’s world.
The Office, a project interpreting proximity and connection between professionals, will be open until June 30, 2021: the gallery has been rethought and transformed into a temporary coworking space, where people are on display instead of objects. A tangible response to the current situation caused by the pandemic, which is uncertain despite the recent reopenings in Italy.
Camp Design Gallery thus finds a way to reinvent itself and continue to be a support for young designers and a place of dialogue for professionals, guaranteeing social distancing and fostering new cultural ties. The idea was developed on the basis of a proposal by Cristina Tajani, Council member for Labor Policies and Productive Activities of the Municipality of Milan.
The installation, curated by Gabriele Leo and Grazia Mappa of Post Disaster studio, is open to designers, architects, journalists, PR, gallery owners and curators, and is characterised by lightness and flexibility, which are necessary features in order to work safely. Some of the art pieces that have been exhibited in the gallery in recent years also flank the tables and chairs in the space. The Office can be visited from Monday to Friday by appointment.
