Nathalie Du Pasquier, an artist – native to Bordeaux, in love with Milan since she moved there in 1979 and from when she helped to found, in the 1980s, the Gruppo Memphis – began with bricks to create her latest large site-specific installation at Mutina, MUT, dedicated to art experimentation, adjacent to the company headquarters in Fiorano Modenese (until 19.6.2020). “BRIC is almost design or almost architecture, even if it serves no purpose. It is a collaboration with the team at Mutina, the wonderful engineers and bricklayers without whom these small constructions would never have been realised,” the artist explains to the curator Sarah Cosulich. For the fourth exhibition in the “Mutina for Art” programme begun in 2016, she has created seven elements, mid-way between sculptures and architectures, made with different bricks: upside-down, enamelled and colourful, combined to create objects poised between the metaphysical and the postmodern.
