From street art to international success, a unique exhibition to admire the iconic work of the master of visual propaganda.
For the first time in Italy, a museum exhibition dedicated entirely to Shephard Fairey, the legendary street artist known by his pseudonym, Obey. A not-to-be-missed event that will be taking place from 16 May to 27 October 2024 at the Fabbrica del Vapore, and that will immerse visitors in the creative universe of one of the greatest contemporary artists.
More than 200 works, including iconic posters, prints, silk-screens, paintings and sculptures offer an overview of Fairey’s extraordinary career, from his debut as an underground street artist to his becoming an established name on the international scene. The pieces on display will include the famous Hope poster created for Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign, a pioneering image that encapsulates the essence of Fairey’s message.
More than a simple artist, he is a master of visual propaganda. Shephard Fairey’s works are characterised by simplicity and immediateness, using powerful images and incisive slogans to address extremely topical social and political themes such as war, consumerism, globalisation and environmental protection. Though his art, Fairey invites the public to reflect on crucial questions of our time, and to regain control of their individual power for criticism and action.
An unmissable opportunity for lovers of art and all those looking to further their knowledge of an artist who has managed to combine art and civil action. Obey: The Art of Shepard Fairey is a unique experience that will make an impression not only on lovers of street art, but on anyone sensitive to the social and political themes of our time.
