From 17 December 2023 to 7 April 2024, the MA*GA museum in Gallarate, in the province of Varese, will be playing host to a retrospective of one of the greatest figures in avant-garde painting from the second half of the 20th century: Edoarda Emilia Maino, better known to the general public as Dadamaino.

Curated by Flaminio Gualdoni, the exhibition retraces the career of the Milanese artist through eighty of her best-known works, from monochromatic painting to spatialism, on to the more abstract forms that would characterise her career. The exhibition provides a detailed examination of her profound relationship with the other great artists of the 1900s, such as Lucio Fontana, examining the influences and the artistic and conceptual relationships that emerge throughout the exhibition. Optical kinetic objects and drawings, installations, works on paper, on sheets of plastic and with nylon wire and pieces of wood; a demonstration of great experimentation that highlights the commitment of one of the greatest artistic figures on the Italian scene.
