Designed by Berlin-based Studio 7.5, the Zeph seating collection features a colorful one-piece seat and flexible backrest. Produced by Herman Miller, the new series follows the same ergonomic principles as the multi-use seat and stool already launched in 2022, but adds a natural recline. Taking advantage of 3D printing, the design team – Burkhard Schmitz, Carola Zwick, and Roland Zwick – produced multiple prototypes of the kinematic plastic monocoque and embedded technology, succeeding in producing a shell-shaped chair. The seat is offered with and without a seat cushion or 3D mesh padding of the monocoque, fixed armrests or without armrests, and a base equipped with casters or glide feet, resulting in adaptability to various needs. Practical but not only: Zeph features a 3D knitted fabric upholstery made from 50 percent recycled product, processed following the exact dimensions of the seat to avoid wasting material and with a view to sustainability.
