In the words of its creators, the Hexbot robotic arm will turn any desktop into a workshop. This cute little robotic arm implements a clever system of modules that can turn the device into a number of different machines: it can be a laser engraver, a 3D printer, a pen-holding drawing plotter, with an impressive 0.05mm repeatability (a measure of the accuracy with which the robotic arm can repeat the same movement). The Hexbot can also move objects around thanks to a small multi-pronged grabbing tool, a cup holder or a suction cup extension. The project has been already funded 8 times over on Kickstarter. An entry-level kit for the Hexbot costs around 300$, but the offer is limited and might run off soon. The expected shipping date for the product is October 2019.
