The colours of Spanish design on show in Tokyo

The exhibition "Spanish Chromatic Still Life", curated by Spanish architect Belén Moneo, stages the best of Iberian interior design, dividing the products across seven colour clusters.

Seven “Chromatic Still Life” harmoniously show a selection of products, materials and unique pieces designed and produced in Spain. These seven clusters were conceived by Belén Moneo, co-founder of the Moneo + Block office, who curated the exhibition “Spanish Chromatic Still Life” at the Spanish Embassy in Tokyo.

The architect has chosen ten Spanish manufacturers: six furniture companies (Blasco & Vila, Capdell, Expormim, Kettal, Sancal and Sellex), three lighting firms (Almerich, Estiluz and LZF Lamps) and one carpet producer (Naturtex).

Belén Moneo said: “Each still life is defined by a characteristic colour range offering a relational narrative that goes beyond the isolated object in the exhibition space”.

The monochromatic environments stage the variety of the contemporary Spanish design scene. Now in its fourth edition, the initiative is promoted by ICEX-España Exportación e Inversiones, an agency that promotes the excellence of the country and aims to confront the Spanish interior design with different needs, cultures and markets.
