From April 6 to 8, “Prada Frames”, the annual symposium dedicated to interdisciplinary dialogue between design, culture, and society, returns to Milan for its fourth edition, on the occasion of the Salone del Mobile. For years a key event within the disciplinary debate for the multifaceted and layered perspectives it has enabled on contemporary issues, the program of talks 2025, curated by the Formafantasma studio, will focus on the concept of mobility, rethinking its implications and offering a complex, multidimensional view of the infrastructures that shape our time.
The discussions will take place in the Padiglione Reale of Milan’s Central Station, a historic waiting room once reserved for Italian royalty and heads of state, and aboard the Arlecchino train designed by Gio Ponti
Titled “In Transit”, this year’s symposium will examine infrastructures not merely as functional components but as dynamic systems that actively shape the contemporary social, economic, and cultural landscape, facilitating — or constraining —the movement of people, goods, data, and power. By exploring the intersection of design, environment, and mobility, the event will address topics ranging from the evolution of transport and communication networks to the impact of digital revolutions and global distribution mechanisms on everyday life. It will also reflect on the paradoxes of hypermobility, contrasting the seamless flow of goods and information with the physical and geopolitical barriers that restrict individual freedom of movement.

The selected venues, two iconic spaces of Italian design and architecture, resonate with the symposium’s theme, amplifying its significance. The discussions will take place in the Padiglione Reale of Milan’s Central Station, a historic waiting room once reserved for Italian royalty and heads of state, and aboard the Arlecchino train, a masterpiece of naval-inspired aerodynamics designed in the 1950s by Domus founder Gio Ponti and Giulio Minoletti.
Contextualised by design critic and writer Alice Rawsthorn, the program will feature contributions from leading figures across disciplines, from design to astrophysics, including Paola Antonelli, Giacomo Abbruzzese, AAU Anastas, Nelly Ben Hayoun-Stépanian, Kate Crawford, Marta Foresti, Rose George, Natalia Grabowska, Samia Henni, Nick Hunt, Tung-Hui Hu, Jesse LeCavalier, Charlotte Malterre-Barthes, Metahaven, Marina Otero Verzier, Lorenzo Pezzani, Hito Steyerl, Nicola Twilley, and Ersilia Vaudo.
