The EMBT-designed metro station in Paris is under construction: see photos

As part of the Grand Paris Express programme, aimed at modernising the existing transport network by introducing new automated metro lines, Miralles Tagliabue - Embt Architects has designed the Clichy-Montfermeil station and the surrounding urban space (currently under construction) as a nerve node for mobility and an opportunity for redesigning and redeveloping a degraded and socially conflicting suburban area.

In the space facing the station a large metal pergola, in homage to Hector Guimard's iconic Parisian canopies, envelops two volumes and marks the entrance that leads passengers to the train platforms on the lower level. The culturally heterogeneous character of the place is registered and symbolised by coloured metal panels covering the pergola and cladding the atrium, zenithally illuminated by the square's glazed floor. 

The exterior façades, on which the ceramic mural by French artist JR stands out, are perforated with organic motifs evoking the greenery of the nearby Bondy forest and introducing lively chiaroscuro effects into the building.
