The exhibition at MADRE in Naples inspired by Aldo Loris Rossi

Realised in collaboration with Gucci, the exhibition “Il resto di niente” (‘the rest of nothing’') unfolds from the work of the Neapolitan architect and theorist.

The Donnaregina Contemporary Art Museum (MADRE) in Naples, in collaboration with Gucci, has created the exhibition “Il resto di niente” from an idea by Sabato De Sarno, curated by Eva Fabbris with Giovanna Marzotti, and open until July 29, 2024. The exhibition, which takes its title from the 1986 novel of the same name by Enzo Striano, explores the relationship between civic and anthropic space, drawing from the work of Neapolitan architect and architecture theorist Aldo Loris Rossi, particularly the role played by emotion in the enjoyment of urban spaces and the memories they imprint on us.

The works of artists and architects exhibited at MADRE – diverse in time and origin – evoke Rossi’s postwar “concrete utopias,” futuristic and expressionist realities of great geometric complexity, with sci-fi and in some respects alien, otherworldly aesthetic, certainly out of the ordinary. The exhibits revolve around the theme of living, reflecting on how forms and spaces influence our psycho-emotional sphere, affecting our perception and way of life. Among the authors are Franco Mazzucchelli, Sara Persico, Vincenzo Agnetti and Nanda Vigo, Angharad Williams, Giulio Delvè, Domenico Salierno, Özgür Kar, Jim C. Nedd, RM, and Tobias Zielony.
