James Jannard’s Star Wars-esque mansion up for sale

The property, blending Brutalism and futuristic aesthetics, is on the market for $68 million.

James Jannard, founder of the eyewear and apparel giant Oakley and renowned for his incredible real estate portfolio, has listed another stunning property in Beverly Hills for $68 million, right after selling his Malibu mansion for a record-setting $210 million. Located in the exclusive Trousdale Estates neighborhood, the futuristic villa, approximately 18,000 square feet, resembles the perfect lair for a supervillain. It features an aesthetic that blends Brutalism with Star Wars-inspired architecture, including a circular motor court said to be inspired by Stonehenge and an infinity pool with a perspective over the Los Angeles Basin that somewhat recalls the Salk Institute, designed by Louis I. Kahn in La Jolla between 1959 and 1965.

The monolithic villa, which seems to embody Barney Stinson’s wildest dreams, has curved concrete hallways and steel finishes (including a furnace-style fireplace and a kitchen that looks like it came from Mr. Freeze’s house). It boasts five bedrooms and ten bathrooms, as well as a state-of-the-art theater and the inevitable infinity pool with breathtaking views of the Los Angeles Basin.
