Range Rover Electric gets closer to shipping as preorders go live

Jaguar Land Rover has opened the waiting list for the electric SUV. In the meantime, the brand showroom in Courmayeur, Italy, reopens for the 2023-2024 ski season.

The first fully-electric model from Range Rover is rapidly approaching its market launch. Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has started the testing phase for the new vehicle's prototypes and has simultaneously opened a waiting list for customers eager to reserve the car.

The new Range Rover Electric ushers in a new era of electric luxury for the UK brand. According to JLR, it will be the "quietest and most refined" Range Rover ever produced, offering a holistic and comprehensive user experience that goes beyond just driving pleasure. Owners will have easy access to charging networks through the brand's energy partnerships, and over-the-air software updates will keep the car's smart features up-to-date at all times. Although the design of the Range Rover Electric hasn't been fully revealed yet, JLR has shown some details in a teaser video. The design is expected to be similar to the Range Rover Sport models, but several elements will highlight the car’s electric nature.

JLR claims that the electric SUV’s performance will be on par with the flagship Range Rover V8, and its in-house developed all-terrain capabilities will match those of other Land Rover SUVs. The ongoing physical prototype tests are among the most rigorous ever conducted by the manufacturer, ensuring the vehicle's ability to withstand extreme temperatures, maintain comfort and driving pleasure in all conditions, and wading through up to 850mm deep water.

The new Range Rover Electric will be built on the Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA) and produced in Solihull, UK, alongside other hybrid Range Rover models. For the first time, batteries and Electric Drive Units (EDUs) will be produced and assembled at JLR's new Electric Propulsion Production Center in Wolverhampton. These are significant industrial choices for the brand, aligning with Range Rover's electrification journey towards achieving zero emissions by 2039.

While tests on the new electric Range Rover are in progress in the UK, the company is also focusing on the global promotion of its current models and the lifestyle associated with the brand. In Courmayeur, Val D'Aosta (Italy), the Range Rover House has reopened for the fifth consecutive year.

The design of the space has been renewed to reflect the brand's style, creating a warm and familiar atmosphere for customers and their guests. The showroom and lounge is a true "House,” offering an ideal space for Range Rover customers to gather, meet, and engage. To access the Range Rover House customers need only to present the QR-Code printed on the back of their Land Rover Club membership card.
