Lamborghini joins the shift to electric mobility by unveiling its first all-electric car concept, the Lamborghini Lanzador. The Italian brand revealed the car at the Monterey Car Week and said it will get into production in 2028.
The Lanzador will sport an electric motor on each axle for a peak power of one Megawatt, which would compare to about 1340HP.
For its first foray into all-electric territory, Lamborghini set a very high bar to improve driveability and convince even the most die-hard supporter of combustion engines that the electric future holds exciting driving experiences.
The Lanzador will also feature a novel system enabling the driver to adjust the car’s driving dynamics, aerodynamics, and suspensions.
“For us, electrification does not mean a restriction, but an intelligent opportunity to develop more performance and drivability,” said Rouven Mohr, Lamborghini’s Chief Technical Officer. “With the newly-developed and highly-integrated driving modes, including active controls, Lamborghini increases driving pleasure and performance and enhances safety and feedback to the pilot.”

The Lanzador design keeps intact some of Lamborghini’s lines but integrates them into a grand-tourer body that takes advantage of the space freed up by the lack of chunky and powerful combustion engines. Lamborghini used the space both for roomier interiors unseen in a luxury sports car, and for luggage space both in the back and in the front, with an additional trunk under the bonnet. Thanks to these features, Lamborghini Lanzador promises to fare well both as an exclusive and exciting-to-drive sportscar and as a daily driver.
Lanzador follows on the tracks of the Lamborghini Sián, the carmaker’s first hybrid supercar. Unlike other luxury brands, the Italian manufacturer has not promised to turn its fleet into fully electric vehicles. However, it has stated that it expects all its cars to transition to hybrid propulsion by the end of 2024.
