Announced the winners of the fourth edition of the Italian Architecture Award, the annual project promoted by Triennale Milano and MAXXI - Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo, which is committed to enhancing the works of Italian or architects active in Italy whose commitment is aimed at innovation, design quality and social role of architecture.

The Award for the best building has been won by architects Carlo Atzeni, Maurizio Manias, Silvia Mocci, and Franceschino Serra for the parish and church of Santa Chiara, in Sini, in the province of Oristano (Sardinia); ex-aequo with the studio ELASTICOFarm, for the project for the new complex of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) S-LAB in Turin, according to the jury able to give a strong character to a building typology theoretically “generic”, transforming it into a research opportunity.

Labics was awarded an honorable mention for the completion of the museum areas of Palazzo dei Diamanti, in Ferrara. The project of restoration, enhancement, and expansion is a virtuous example of reinterpretation and functional and cultural actualization of a historic building, points out the jury, who wanted to give it this recognition “also for succeeding despite the presence of prejudices and pseudo-conservative resistance”.

Studio Ossidiana then received the Under 35 Award for the Art Pavillion M project, in Almere, the Netherlands; and the Lifetime Achievement Award goes to Aimaro Oreglia d’Isola, who “also during his partnership with Roberto Gabetti has been able to mark an era of innovative and surprising creations, from the homes of Ivrea to Milan projects for the Bicocca area and offices in San Donato”, as stated Stefano Boeri, President of Triennale Milano.

The finalist and winning projects will be exhibited in Milan at the Triennale until 24 September.
