Alessandro Ceccon, a student from Turin’s Istituto D’Arte Applicata e Design, has won the 3M Surface for Change contest with a project that draws inspiration from the north-western Italian city. Ceccon took part in the competition with a series of renderings showing a futuristic pod-like car seamlessly integrating with Turin’s characteristic views and architecture. The contest’s goal was to showcase creative uses for 3M’s automobile wrapping products, of course. Still, Ceccon’s work goes beyond that, showing how a futuristic car design would fit surprisingly well in a historical city setting. 
Even the name of the vehicle, Piemontesina, is a perfect fit that reminisces of famous Italian car designers (the car’s logo is quite similar to the typical Pininfarina signature) and joyfully named cars from FIAT’s past, such as “Campagnola”. 
Ceccon’s futuristic two-seater micro-car (a trendy type of vehicle among younger generations in Italy) features references to Turin’s symbols, with a bull logo on the front, and the city’s map carefully reproduced on the car’s surface with a nice shiny silver effect.
