On 31 October, MEET Digital Culture Center opened to the public. It is the first international centre of digital culture in Italy, and it is located in the former Spazio Oberdan in Milan. MEET aims to be the hub of a global network based on internationality, exchange, debate and co-creation. In 2018, Città Metropolitana sold the over 1,500-square metres space to Cariplo Foundation. The renovation and management of the property were entrusted to Turin architect Carlo Ratti and digital culture expert Maria Grazia Mattei. MEET was born out of the evolution in physical space of a digital platform by Meet Media Guru. It represents a real “new media space”, as defined by Ratti.

The centre provides a wide programme of “on-life” initiatives - online and on site - and is supported by national and international partners, including the Institute Without Boundaries at George Brown College in Toronto, specialised in participatory and interdisciplinary planning. Inside, the Immersive Rooms will feature works by artists whose practice focuses on digital. Until January 21st, if the health emergency allows it, it will be possible to visit “Renaissance Dreams”, site-specific installation by the Turkish artist Refik Anadol. Also worth mentioning, the MEET hosts an eccentric bistro designed by Italo Rota and managed by Mare culturale urbano, where you can enjoy unusual food according to the Food Balls concept by food designer Martí Guixé. MEET’s main partner is Intesa Sanpaolo; the Digital Culture Centre is also supported by Artemide and Mediatrade.
