Apparently similar to a guinea pig and a Star Trek ‘tribe’, Moflin is a robotic pet with artificial intelligence capable of developing emotions by being in contact with people: through interactions with humans, in fact, it nurtures its personality and changes emotions and feelings by reacting just like a real living creature.
 

Unlike the toy robots already on the market, therefore, this proposal is much more than just a toy as it is designed to dispense joy and comfort by offering a sensation very similar to what a puppy might give to its beloved owner by responding with unique sounds and movements expressed only to a specific person it will recognise through its voice and the way it handles it, to simulate a close bond.

Regular interactions will make him happy and calm, on the contrary, indifference will induce him into a state of stress and sadness. To know his true state of mind, it is necessary to use the official smartphone app, which is also useful for adjusting the volume of the sounds emitted by the robot. Moreover, to make it really very similar to a living creature, the integrated battery is recharged by placing it inside its bed and not by using a classic cable: with a full charge, an autonomy of about five hours is expected.

Initially developed in collaboration with the Japanese start-up Vanguard Industries, Moflin is now produced and distributed by Casio and can be pre-ordered for 59,400 Japanese yuan, about 365 euros, and is expected to be available on 7 November, but only in Japan: we have no details about its launch in Europe. The more considerate will also be able to subscribe to Club Moflin - at around EUR 45 per year - which provides discounts on repairs and maintenance of the plush as well as for full fur replacement.
