Italian Pavilion at the 2025 Venice Biennale: the finalist projects

There are three finalist projects for the Italian Pavilion at this 19th edition of the Venice Architecture Biennale. Here are the designers.

The second selection phase for the realisation of the Italian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2025 has just ended. The 19th edition, curated by architect and engineer Carlo Ratti, will explore the theme of natural, artificial and collective intelligence and will be open to the public from 10 May to 23 November 2025.

After an initial selection process involving ten candidates, the three finalists are 'Homeness: Visible Living for Invisible Citizens', presented by the curatorial group Habitus, composed of Massimo Alvisi, Marilena Baggio, Marco Biraghi, Gianpiero Borgia, Roberto Fioretti, Vittorio Gallese, Christian Iaione, Pisana Posocco, Davide Ruzzon; 'ITALIAMARE. Viaggio nell'architettura del razionalismo mediterraneo' by Cherubino Gambardella; 'TERRÆ AQUÆ. Italy and the intelligence of the sea' by Guendalina Salimei.

Candidates were asked to submit a "curatorial proposal that offers a particularly innovative and unconventional vision of the panorama of contemporary Italian architecture, both in terms of creativity and content [...] with the aim of stimulating a national and international debate, including the role that Italy can play at a global level in the field of contemporary architecture".
