Elon Musk’s The Boring Company (TBC) will expand the “Vegas Loop” – the tunnel network underneath Las Vegas – by 25 miles, adding 18 new stations to its original project. The Commissioners at Clark County, Nevada, approved the extension of the underground transportation system. So, the current plan is to build 65 miles of tunnels with 69 stations. The project should be fully funded by the company.

The vote ended with six votes in favour and only one against, by Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick, who raised concerns that the transit system would only serve tourists, without taking into account resort and casino employees.

However, TBC lawyer Stephanie Allen said the company would have an interest in expanding into residential areas near the Stripe to reach out to local workers. At the moment, in fact, the Vegas Loop is still only about 2 miles long, with five stops around the Las Vegas Convention Center. But TBC plans to dig more tunnels, connecting the network to Harry Reid International Airport, Allegiant Stadium, downtown Las Vegas, and maybe even Los Angeles.
