What you can expect to see at Arch Week 2023

From Wednesday 7 to Sunday 11 June 2023, Milan hosts again a whole week dedicated to architecture, this year focused on the debate about the suburbs: the event's title is “Waiting for Peripheries”

Milan is preparing for the fifth edition of Arch Week, from 7 to 11 June 2023, directed by Stefano Boeri and curated by Nina Bassoli and Matteo Ruta. The theme of the event, founded in 2017 and promoted by the City of Milan, Politecnico di Milano and Triennale Milano, will be “Waiting for Peripheries” and wants to be an opportunity to discuss the social and cultural energies of the city, aimed at initiating a collective reflection on the suburbs.

This year the event expands its borders, activating spots spread throughout the city. Schools, theaters, associations, libraries, neighborhood gardens: forty places that make up a network that goes from the center to the suburbs. However, the main venues will remain the Politecnico and the Triennale, which will host working group, talks, lectures and workshops.

Among the guests will be Iñaki Carnicero, Spanish General Secretary for the Urban Agenda and Architecture who promoted the drafting of the first law on the quality of architecture; the German studio b+ Arno Brandlhuber; the Catalan studio Harquitectes; Kersten Geers from the Belgian studio OFFICE; and Toshiko Mori, Domus’ co-director for 2023.

During the event will also be presented the six winning projects of the competition of ideas  San Vittore, spazio alla bellezza, that aims to promote a new conception of the prison house through the redesign of some of its spaces in order to change their perception and improve their functionality.
