From 2 to 4 November 2018 the Artissima contemporary art fair is held in Turin, which this year is in its twenty-fifth edition. Directed for the second year by Ilaria Bonacossa, the fair is internationally recognized for its attention to experimental practices and as a springboard for emerging artists and research galleries. The theme is “time” (Time is on our side), proposed as a dynamic flow, able to impress the rhythm of change, preserving the temporal suspension of the emotion of the work of art.

The “time” of Artissima thus assumes a double value: an eloquent past and a future open to creative inquiry. The curator writes: “The time dedicated to galleries to discover and rediscover artists, to produce their works and to support creative research. The time of images capable of activating thoughts and emotions and not being passively consumed. The time of listening to the new Sound section, an amazing journey through 16 sound installations. The accelerated time of the deepening of the opportunities that digital offers us. The time of drawing that is both a project and a finished work, a classical subject transformed by contemporary interpretation and an innovative form of thought. The creative time of Artissima Junior in which the young visitors to the fair, together with an artist, will produce a large environmental installation. The time of coexistence and the sonic and visual co-design of our “Experimental Academy” to transform the fair into a space for the creation and training of young artists. The time of sharing and the taste of an artist's dinner to experiment with new ways of sharing. The time of the commemoration of great artists. The time of Turin, a city suspended between past and future, between Egyptian treasures and contemporary installations, between real glories and worker memories, between engineering rationalism and magic.” The fair always starts from its own history and identity - marked by the consistency of a path aimed at renewal and constant experimentation, but always capable of keeping one’s recognisability alive - to participate in the construction of the future history of art. Artissima also collaborates with public institutions, museums, foundations, galleries and the art movement is breathed throughout the city.
