Runner Camp is a sports store in Shanghai, born from the collaboration between Prism Design and Office Coastline. The main concept can be summarized as an “urban athletics” center, located in the Infinite Plaza department store, and meant as a hybrid between a shop and a gym.

The main design feature is a large staircase that diagonally crosses the space, marking the difference in height from the ground floor – where the shoe store is – and the upper floor, that hosts a proper gym. To achieve an urban feeling the designers selected industrial materials such as metal and concrete, combined with softer surfaces to guarantee good performances in terms of heating and sound absorption.
Runner Camp can be considered a concept store that mixes sports consultancy areas with training areas, plus offices, retail space and changing rooms, and customers can access the space from “sunrise to sunset”. Orange, which is the brand’s colour, has been used as a graphic device on selected elements to improve brand communication and orientation.
