Artist and designer Martha Sturdy will bring the evergreen indoors this year for her return to the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York City. With a nod to her native Vancouver, the verdant display will feature new pieces fashioned entirely in marbled white resin or hand sculpted brass. As part of the collection, for the first time, she will present table top resin lighting with her Illume series of backlit resin objects, as well as the introduction of large-scale resin planters.

Also at the fair will be the designer’s latest brass artworks which expand on both her undulating brass wall sculpture series, as well as a large scale brass Art Screen – a sculptural room divider. For this collection of white resin furniture, Martha has set out to create a blank canvas upon which nature can interact with designed interiors, blurring lines between the home and the rugged outdoors she draws inspiration from in the Pacific Northwest.
Bringing the outdoors inside through planting and greenery, the presentation at the fair provides a new typology for indoor-outdoor living, which manifests in a physical representation of her world: at once minimal and wild. Hand-poured, sanded and polished in her British Columbia studio, these resin pieces reflect an eye for modern simplicity inspired by the natural world.
