Dome of Visions 3.0 in Aarhus is the third dome in a series of experiments by Kristoffer Tejlgaard that aim to create knowledge on the effects of architectures built within a greenhouse on people’s well-being. The dome creates a passive and solar heated space, a building envelope that generates a third climate, just like the majority of the spaces we live in.
Dome of Visions
With energy efficiency in mind, Kristoffer Tejlgaard designed a temporary structure in Aarhus: a spheric dome that hosts a building for events, meetings and conversations.

The structure serves as a framework where space has been created for a wide variety of events, lectures, debates, conversations, concerts and exhibitions that can open eyes, ears, thoughts and senses. The dome is clad with polycarbonate in rhombus shapes, instead of hexagons or triangles, to reduce waste from the sheets and at the overlapping joints.
The curved CNC-milled beams can be assembled in a simple laser cut steel node, to reduce the amount of steel needed and the production is optimized in a way that makes it easier to assemble with less energy. The temporariness of the pavilion provides a stronger invitation to think about the circuits the materials belong to and to think on how the building can be constructed in order to be disassembled again.
