Drawing on his countless journeys around Europe and beyond, the designer conjures an aesthetic universe composed of very personal prints. Details of architectural forms such as buildings and streets, as well as natural elements like leaves, rocks and shimmering sunlight on the surface of water, are captured on Herkner’s phone camera and transformed into fresh new textures on soft Alcantara®.
To launch Wanderlust, Alcantara will be transforming the Galerie ArtCube, an art venue on the upmarket Place de Furstenberg in the heart of the Saint Germain neighbourhood, into a special, colourful tea room. A neon window sign will invite the public and professionals, who travel to Paris each year to discover the latest news and trends, to come in and be transported elsewhere by the magic of materials. Thin strips of Alcantara®, in a variety of colours and patterns from the Wanderlust collection, will adorn the walls of the gallery. Downstairs in a more secluded corner, reserved for business interviews and meetings, the Pass seats by Lapalma, designed by Hee Welling and upholstered in some article of the collection, will be displayed.
