Interiors in Turin

The apartment renovated by Blaarchitettura is a unit on the fifth floor of a building from the late Fifties, located on the front of the Valentino Park in Turin, Italy. The South-East exposure makes the flat very bright and all the openings to the outside enjoy a beautiful panorama of the hills of Turin and the Po River. The idea behind the project is the desire to not use internal doors or partitions.

Designing all the spaces and functions of the living and night area without the use of doors and partitions, makes the central concrete cube the only distribution element of the house. This volume, which hosts the bedroom, disengages the kitchen, the living room, the dressing room and the dining room. The paths of the inhabitants are generated around that element, and spaces are ‘revealed’ while entering the house. The building structure helps to underline this distribution layout, thanks set-back pillars that create a virtual corridor that runs along the apartment, from the wardrobe to the wide shower, separated from the rest of the flat by an opal glass that increases natural lighting.

The concrete ‘cave’ is raised 10 cm from the floor, to underline its function. Through the use of mirrors on the base, the artifact becomes light and seems like floating. The floor was made with the use transparent epoxy resin casted directly on the screed.

The kitchen and the oak wood table resemble the two main colours of the whole apartment: anthracite and natural wood. The dining table penetrates the work furniture and embraces the pillar of the structure. The bathroom is composed by a concrete shelf that supports the washbasins. The shower is in white epoxy resin, reflecting and adding natural light to the whole anthracite bathroom.
