Martino Gamper cooperates once more with Viennese glass company J. & L. Lobmeyr to create drinking glasses, presented at Passionswege during the Vienna Design Week.
As part of the Vienna Design Week, Martino Gamper participates to Passionswege, the festival section where Viennese production companies are brought together with international and Austrian designers.
After ten years from their first partnership, Gamper collaborates again with J. & L. Lobmeyr, a two hundred years old company specialized in glass refining, chandeliers and drinking glasses. This new cooperation turns the attention to the decorative surfaces and elaborate techniques that the company has cultivated and brought to perfection in the course of its history as a firm: cutting, engraving, etching, and sandblasting, also the various forms of hand painting. In his new perspective, Martino Gamper experiments with these techniques, mixes them, and creates a highly decorative modern drinking glass.
Ever since it first started, the Vienna Design Week has organized the Passionswege, Curated this year by Lilli Hollein and Julia Hürner. Companies and designers can then experiment, create, and transfer knowledge in open work processes, free from all commercial restraints. The results of each collaborative project – object or installation – are then shown directly on site, granting backstage views and insights into authentic and traditional Viennese workshops and business premises.
