The body of work is further enriched by a number of valued prints made using the techniques of etching, drypoint and aquatint, when Rossi was experimenting with photo etching and offset printing, or a combination of techniques, during the seventies and eighties. Following the exhibitions “Opere dal 1970 al 1980” (2010), “Disegni 1980-1996” (2012) and “Autobiografia Poetica” (2014) this new showcase dedicated to Aldo Rossi’s graphic work, once again investigates his inexhaustible creative research, this time in context of series reproductions and Rossi’s arresting curiosity for printing techniques which he began to explore alongside famous engravers, namely Arduino Cantafora and Giorgio Upiglio, from the early seventies. Over twenty pieces of work creating a visual overlay, a small lemma of Rossi-style images that include his architecture, from the San Cataldo Cemetery in Modena to the Monumental Fountain in Segrate, his most prized products, from coffee makers to the Elba beach huts, and his poetic and personal imagery, from Il Caffé del Mattino to Il Leopardino Azzurro.

The collaboration between Aldo Rossi and Galleria Antonia Jannone began at the end of the seventies when the architect was becoming internationally acclaimed not just for his architecture, but also for his drawings – considered unique in terms of composition – and his prints which, even in their serial nature, reflect Rossi’s interest in line drawing and chiaroscuro and his boundless desire for research.

This exhibition in Milan runs concurrently with La Finestra del Poeta, another show dedicated to the graphic work of Aldo Rossi, held at the GAMeC in Bergamo.
