Made entirely in solid Beech wood, Earl is the fruit of the passion which Piaval and Daniel Rous share for manufacturing in wood and its intrinsic qualities. #MDW2016
For the 2016 Milan Furniture Fair, Piaval and Fabrica present Earl, a new collection of furniture designed by Daniel Rous, a young British designer based in Treviso at the Benetton Group’s communication research centre. Earl is the fruit of the passion which Piaval and Daniel Rous share for manufacturing in wood and its intrinsic qualities.
The collection calls upon a deep understanding for the importance of sustainability in manufacturing and its implication on the environment. The collection is made entirely in solid Beech wood. It explores the material’s innovative potential; its simplicity masks the complex execution utilising advanced manufacturing techniques. Characterised by its clean aesthetic, the collection is striking and beautifully detailed. It makes a bold statement. Balanced proportions, sweeping surfaces and an fastidious approach to detailing makes each piece recognisable as an integral part of the whole collection.
The choice to use FSC-certified wood and water based paints is a sign of sustainable awareness. The collection – designed specifically with the contract and hospitality sector in mind – composed of an armchair, cafe chair, stool and bar stool, bench and a number of large and small tables for different purposes. Piaval and Fabrica’s rewarding collaboration began in September 2015 for 100% Design in London. The major design trade event invited Daniel Rous to design the interior, including the seating, of the Half Three Café, an area where visitors can take a break and relax from the fair. This led to the development of the Earl collection, which will be released at the 2016 Milan Furniture Fair.
