The request of the client was to transform the building, formerly dedicated to different uses, into a private house. The project focuses on the new relationships between the building and the urban context around this new volume.
The house features a living area on the ground floor, a sleeping area on the first floor and a studio on the upper level, where the terrace creates the strongest connection with the open space. Casa CS closes off and lifts from the ground zero: the East facade is totally windowless at the basement while the South one is moved back and shaded using a brise-soleil and creates a little green space. The stairwell is a hanged steel structure with wooden steps and brings a light beam from the large upper level window to the lower living room illuminating all the interiors.
