#46 Max Lipsey presents his Monna Chair, a prototype for a fauteuil, inspired by prehistoric Venus figurines of voluptuous women or earth mothers. #salone2015
Monna Chair will be exhibited along with other works by the designer Max Lipsey at the SaloneSatellite during the 2015 Salone Mobile in Milan.
Monna Chair, made out of Febrik textile, with a foam and mdf core and a solid ash base, is a prototype for a fauteuil. The armchair is inspired by prehistoric Venus figurines of voluptuous women or earth mothers.
The soft, round curves of the chair are reminiscent of these figurines of feminine nurturing and bounty, creating a safe and welcoming place to curl up into. The name Monna comes from an abbreviation of the Italian, Ma Donna or my lady.
