Following the success of the first Kvadrat/Raf Simons collection, launched in March 2014, the collection has been expanded with three new upholstery textile designs and an allied range of cushions and throws.
This collection builds on the highly textured, tactile quality of the first, as well as the use of innovative colour blends inspired by Raf Simons’ work in fashion.

Approaching textiles as the natural point of intersection between the worlds of fashion and furniture design, in this trio of new textiles Simons has investigated the potential of twill, a weave traditionally used for hardy cloth such as tweed, gabardine or denim.

Twill is distinguished by a strong diagonal pattern in the weave, which has been brought out to a greater or lesser extent across the three new designs – Noise, Masai and Sirocco – through the use of different coloured yarns. “The diagonal weave offers the perfect structure for our interest in merging a multi-colour mix with a graphically clean line,” explains Simons. “It felt new to us. The combinations of diverse yarn qualities and multiple twisted yarns create depth and the colour results are surprising and striking.”
