Matteo Ragni: Mirage / 42

For Milan Design Week, with the new Mirage line of tables, Matteo Ragni experiments with designs combining two materials usually used separately, glass and wood.

“Veneering glass is first of all a design challenge but also a dream to realise: the idea of uniting two materials that are so ancient and antithetical, one cold and one warm, one smooth and perfect, the other rough and perfect in its imperfection”.

This is how Matteo Ragni describes the design brief for the Mirage system of tables that was conceived along with Alpi, a company this designer has been working with for some time.

The furniture in this range is certainly surprising with effects of light and reflections that follow on and alternate, broken up by surfaces covered with a choice of 11 Alpi finishes. The collection consists of two low tables with a rectangular and square top, a bedside table and a console.
