The new edition of Europe’s Top 100 Schools of Architecture and Design is free with the December issue of Domus, and free for download in the digital version. The current work crisis is conditioning young people’s study choices and the guide becomes a point of reference for guidance on educational options in the architectural and design worlds. The guide offers an annotated selection of the educational provision in the spheres of Architecture, Product Design, Graphic Design and Interaction Design, as offered by leading European schools based primarily on the following evaluation criteria: international outlook and efficiency; research activities and foreign exchanges; professors and prominent former students; plus links with public and private bodies. It features the most innovative schools and those with a longstanding tradition that offer prize structures and libraries.
This new edition lists more Italian schools, the number of which has risen to 14: Bari Polytechnic, Turin Polytechnic, University of Bologna Alma Mater Studiorum in Cesena, University of Ferrara, La Sapienza University in Rome, Roma Tre University, IUAV in Venice, Free University of Bolzano, Fabrica in Treviso, ISIA in Urbino and, in Milan, Domus Academy, Istituto Marangoni, NABA and the Polytechnic. French schools and German ones, in particular, are also on the rise.
This year also sees the inclusion of countries such as Turkey, Israel, Serbia and Slovenia flanked, for the first time, by Russia and Croatia, underlining the fact that Domus has a broader vision of cultural Europe than that dictated by geographical and political boundaries. For each school named, the guide details annual fees, student numbers, accessibility and any concessions or amenities available to students. We are publishing it in December to give aspiring students plenty of time to complete the admission process for foreign universities.
An annual publication, this second edition of Europe’s Top 100 Schools of Architecture and Design exemplifies Domus’ desire to act as an international point of reference for the education – and the educational debate – of future European architects and designers.
