Vertigo , that sensation of fear and instability, was interpreted by curators – faculty members Claudio Larcher, Steffen Kaz and Simone Simonelli – as a starting point for students in their formative years. As a stimulus to overcoming uncertainty, it considers "the fear of falling" as a design effort in the attempt to rise to professionally challenging occasions.
The exhibition theme reflects this concept. Ten wooden ladders leaning against a wall support shelves that can hold prototypes by young designers.
The projects are innovative experiments – in concept and in execution – with materials such as marble, glass and wood. With different approaches, they share the idea of practicality and feasibility. The objects embody almost the entire combination of craftsmanship and industrial production.
The School of Arts and Design is the only Italian university selected for Ventura Lambrate 2012.
