David Olschewski: breaking conventions

What makes the works of David Olschewski so distinctive is their ability to convey meaning that goes beyond their ostensible function. They break with everyday conventions without sacrificing their usefulness as products. Something new and unexpected awaits the user.

Stiller Gefährte
The beauty of an everyday object often only becomes visible when we see it in a new context. In this case, a slight modification to an "ordinary everyday" shovel turns it into an elegant coat-stand. The "Stille Gefährte" (translated literally: Silent Companion) gets its stability from an X-shaped beechwood base anchoring the handle.
