To refurbish a mini-apartment in Paris, Hyper Architecture has moulded a functional and flexible 45-square-metre space. The apartment is located on the 12th floor of the Boucry Tower, known as Super 18, a discreet landmark in the north-eastern Parisian skyline, designed in 1974 by Jean-Robert Delb. The building presents a wide variety of housing typologies inside, blending perfectly into the city.
The interior design valorizes the existing building and merges living space and workspace into one: the dining room, sleeping area, convivial and working areas are located in the central open space, while the various service functions such as the bathroom, library and terrace are developed around it.
The area housing the bed is concealed by a blue curtain, an element that draws a vibrant semicircle and adds a note of colour to the home, which is predominantly characterised by the neutral tones of concrete – used on the floor and ceiling – and white, which has been chosen for the walls.
In order to adapt to the needs of the inhabitants, the curtain can divide or merge spaces, while the shelving and bookcases guarantee an optimization of their use. A terrace, protected by a glass wall, serves as a veranda thus acting as both an extension of living space ad the main natural lighting source for the dwelling.
