Kew Hues is a one-bedroom apartment in New York renovated by Harlem-based architecture studio Brandt:Haferd. Conceived for a radio journalist, the design focuses on the creation of colorful frames and the use of different materials and textures with the aim of underlining areas and elements of the house, and thus defining domestic moments.

A new portal has been located between living room and kitchen, originally separated from a wall: only a concrete terrazzo countertop, slightly escaping from the opening towards the living area, separates now the two zones. The kitchen, visually centered in the portal, is framed by a colorful cove, precisely in beige red durat, focal point of the residence.

On the other side, the bathroom is conceptually divided in three areas connected by hues of blue and white, the latter served as a balancing tone of the space. Blue terracotta glazed tiles define the shower, while a blue-white texture on the floor gives the entire space a feeling of uniformity.
