The multi-function stairwell looks like a Memphis palette

A true pivotal point of a Parisian loft, the staircase integrates a bookcase and a seat and transforms the contrast among different finishes into an avant-garde reference to the 80s.

On the first outskirts of Paris, a two-storey loft designed by the architectural firm Ubalt is rethought around a multifunctional staircase to aggregate multiple functions. In addition to a walkway and a hinge to let the light flow, this block includes a wall bookcase and a base that takes the form of a seat.

More eye-catching than floor coverings and wardrobes, the finishes of this beating heart of the home help to define the striking look of the entire living area. The painted sheet metal of the staircase, in a soft mint color with a glossy finish to reflect the light, is combined with the green marble covering of the wall shelves and the black and white terrazzo of the seat. Next to it, a yellow opaque glass door warms up the entire intervention, a tribute to the Memphis season with its unequivocal graphic play of patterns and colors.
