Clay Court Club: Via Giuseppe Arimondi 15
14-23 april - h 10-20
Clay Court Club is the reinterpretation, in a design week key, of the old Tennis Club Bonacossa, Milan’s historical temple for this sport. The curator of this intervention is Cristina Celestino, architect and designer, who continues with this project a series of operations on micro-spaces around Milan – so far on a classic tram and the inside of the Cucchi café in Porta Genova.
This time, the venue, the Tennis Club, is a prestigious building designed by Giovanni Muzio in the 1920s. The installation – made of carpets, upholstery, chairs, lamps by brands like Besana, Billiani, and Dedar – is a response to the De Chirico-inspired aesthetics of its architecture.
There are three spaces to visit: the hall of honor, which is the core of the project, a circular-plan dining room gem with a mirrored ceiling, and a panoramic outdoor space on the tennis courts, where the Salone del Mobile atmosphere merges with the club’s daily life.
