IKEA at Fuorisalone 2025: the return of Stockholm

From 8 to 13 April, IKEA will present its new collection, the eighth of its flagship line, in the Tenoha space, with an exhibition and many other side events.

During the most anticipated event of the year in the city of design, IKEA will celebrate 40 years of its historic STOCKHOLM collection with the world premiere of the 2025 edition. "My hope is that the products in this collection will become 'furniture for life', able to retain their beauty over time and be integrated into a vibrant and personal home," says Karin Gustavsson, Creative Leader of the collection, who carries the legacy of previous editions with her: "Rooted in the rich heritage of Scandinavian design, STOCKHOLM 2025 remains a unique collection and true to the spirit of IKEA," adds Gustavsson. The "spirit" of the Swedish company is also the key to its success, which has made it the official voice of democratic design, with an approach that over the years has meant - and still means - combining aesthetics and functionality with affordable prices, quality and respect for the environment.

During Milan Design Week, from 8 to 13 April, IKEA will be present in the Tenoha space at Via Vigevano 18, in the Tortona district, presenting not only its collection but also the exhibition "Do Something. Change Everything.", which explores the impact of small everyday actions on sustainability.

With entertainment including musical performances, talks and creative workshops, as always open to all and with no need to register, IKEA confirms its status as an unmissable event during Fuorisalone. For the second year in a row, IKEA Italia is also supporting The Glitch Camp, a free urban camp for design students from all over the world. The company is providing kits for a perfect night's sleep and, for the first time, is collaborating with IED students to design and furnish the common areas with second-hand furniture, reinforcing its commitment to the circular economy.

The essence of Sweden in the STOCKHOLM 2025 collection

Ninety-six products, from sofas to tableware, from lamps to carpets. Under the guidance of Creative Leader Karin Gustavsson, this edition is inspired by Nordic nature and Swedish atmospheres, combining solid wood, blown glass, ceramics and fine fabrics for an authentic and accessible design.

"You might think that a collection called STOCKHOLM would evoke the atmosphere of the big city, but we left the city to go out into nature and the surrounding islands and let this change inspire us," explains Nike Karlsson, one of the three designers of the collection. We worked with the best Swedish pine to create furniture that brings out the natural beauty of the wood. The sofa, for example, has a 100% cotton fabric and pocket springs. When you sit on it, it makes a pleasant sound: it's a quality you can see and feel.

This quality is also present in the fact that the products are coordinated and at the same time unique, so that they can also be used as "solo" pieces, such as the pendant lamp in glass and nickel-plated steel, the shelving unit and its hidden accessory for attaching the shelves, the rugs, about which the designer Paulin Machado speaks with passion: "The creation of each rug requires two craftsmen and two days of work. They sit side by side and each works on one end of the carpet, in synchrony."

Attention to detail is fundamental, so much so that the product will one day become a 'collector's item', as Ola Wihlborg, a member of the design team, explains: "Every piece in the collection is designed to stand the test of time. The oak chairs with leather seats, the hand-woven rugs and the mouth-blown vases tell a story of craftsmanship and enduring quality."
