Coinciding with Copenhagen’s 3daysofdesign, a design festival held in Denmark’s capital since June 2014, the Danish design brand HAY and the Japanese sportswear brand Asics announced their new collection of “soft-hues” sneakers, giving new life to an old classic.
The iconic pair of shoes Skyhand OG, which first appeared in 1994, is now being re-envisioned through Hay's minimal and colourful Scandinavian aesthetics.
For the launch, Asics has also redeveloped the trainers to offer maximum comfort with advanced technology and premium material, matching their soft pink, blue and emerald green palettes with a modern feel. Featuring FlyteFoam in the forefront and EVA foam in the heel to create a functional and contemporary product, the new Skyhand Go outer shell is crafted from suede and leather mix with Asics and Hay logos on the heel and tongue.
As pointed out by Mette Hay, Creative Director and co-founder of the Hay, “the collection Asics x HAY blended the two brands’s values perfectly, bringing design and comfort together to create a high-quality affordable product for the evolving needs of everyday life”.
